After Are you ready for RPAS v15? – Part 1, we’ll comments more details about the new version of RPAS, version 15. In this post, we’ll talk about the improvements that have been made in the Configuration Tools in this release and explain how it impact in our projects.
We don’t have many enhancements and they are quite simple, but it opens an interesting possibility to built solutions with better controls within the tool and prevent low quality procedures. Continue reading →
One of the major changes we had RPAS 13.3 or later, was the introduction of the concept Cardinality and Re-Indexing Threshold. This concept was developed to solve big issues about space management and capacity of dimensions within the RPAS.
After receiving some emails about how to build a domain? Or how to update within the RPAS? So, Decided to talk about how to build and update any domain and understand what it’s necessary to do it what you can’t forget it. Continue reading →
You built your workbook with all metrics and calculations, but now the end user makes the final analysis and realize you forgot a metric! (Now you’re pissed!) According to the user, this new metric has to bring the parental participation of a measure to the total of the company or at the highest level of the hierarchy.
So now you need go back to the whiteboard to analyze what you need to change to meet this need! Perhaps you may not know, but exist a feature in RPAS can solve your problem without many impacts in your configuration.
A business person calls you to saying he is desperate: “There is an error in the tool! I need to send some information to my manager now! Can you solve this now!” Who has not been in a situation that!?
Always when we’re working with any tool, we always need to prepare to some environments like training or, in the case above, to validate any errors that are occurring in production environment, this isn’t different in the RPAS.
The best practices tell us that when we find an error is recommended copy the domain to non-production environment; this environment we can validate the error and also test and validate any correction possible.
Normally this practice occurs for several reasons and constraints, but mainly to prevent further errors in production. So today we will explain a utility which helps a lot project and support team in our day-to-day activities
When working with a solution within the ConfigTools, we need to establish the measures set that will be used. These measures will be responsible for making the calculations or serve consultation within the workbooks or to be exported to other systems
Due this responsibility, one of the most important and required areas in ConfigTools is the “Measure Manager”. This area contains all elements necessary for creating and maintaining the measures; We can understand how they work within the workbooks and business rules. Continue reading →
When developers and analysts begin to working with RPAS is necessary that they has knowledge about the platform (concepts and constraints), but for them have the expected results to happen, it is necessary to know about RPAS Configuration Tools, the ConfigTools.
The ConfigTools is responsible for handling different projects and solutions in RPAS, it can create or change the metrics, business rules and the different definitions of the workbooks that are used for many solutions.
